Dr. Melissa Witherell obtained her DVM degree from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She completed a rotating Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey. The following year she completed a specialty Exotic Internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York. Dr. Melissa has a background in private specialty practice, emergency medicine, zoo, aquatics, wildlife, and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Melissa started working for Chewy as a Connect with a Vet Contractor in June of 2021, then became a full-time telehealth veterinarian. She has written and contributed numerous articles through PetMD and Chewy’s affiliated pet parent education website. Dr. Melissa lives in Florida with her orange cat Alani and her partner, she enjoys reading, training for American Ninja Warrior, and learning about cinematography in her spare time.
